After receiving a drum machine on his 13th birthday, Montgomery Alabama born - Tulane Court Projects bred Cortez Oates, also known as the artist, Rubberband OG, knew that making music was his destiny. With his mother's constant encouragement and undeniable talent, Rubberband began spending more time in the studio, perfecting his craft. He worked independently for several years posting videos and songs online growing his audience. In 2016 his online presence quickly began to rise, and he caught the attention of Think It's A Game Records CEO, Fly. Rubberband O.G expanded his notoriety thereafter, releasing a single produced by Zaytoven- entitled "Hood Back" and hosted a mixtape series called, "Strictly 4 Traps and Trunks", which was widely received by fans. Rubberband O.G released his very own mixtape in 2017 titled "Bout That Life". Which included a moody single and video for the titled "Bout That Life" premiered on WSHH garnering 2.5 million views on Youtube. A huge accomplishment for a new artist.

With a grassroots, fan focused approach, the past two years have allowed Rubberband O.G to strategically grow his following by collaborating with other aspiring artists on their records, performances both locally, as well as surrounding regions and developing a solid social media following. Managed by music industry vet, and former Mobb Deep affiliate - Littles, Rubberband O.G has traded his free shows in for paid shows, and maintains a packed performance calendar year round. Attributing his steady growth and heightened flame to the support of his label, timing and consistency. Rubberband states: "I'm the new Gucci and Jeezy packed all in one" My DM's are filled with white suburban kids, but my shows are packed with the streets, urban minded young black kids that look just like me! For the past 5 years they have been calling me the Mayor of my hometown "Montgomery AL". I got the streets going crazy and my fans come out by the thousand, waiting in long lines just to see me! When the DJ drops my music in the clubs, my fans erupt". Finally starting to have his way in the south, Rubberband now has his sight set on the rest of the world!
